Over the last few years, we have worked hard to develop WEARX into an agile service provider that delivers high value solutions to our customers. Our board and shareholders knew that at some stage we would need the backing of a much bigger company to unlock our full potential. With the funding of the next phase of our company’s growth in mind, we decided that a full trade sale to a large, likeminded company was the best way to continue the evolution of our business.
There were several interested parties, but when it came down to making our decision as to which company we wanted to move forward with, our key considerations were; cultural fit and clear synergies between the two companies. I’m very pleased to say, that we found an ideal fit in the Metso Corporation. We have now reached an agreement that will see WEARX join forces with Metso in a historic step of our company’s development.
Employing around 11000 people in 50 countries, Metso is a world leading industrial company serving the mining, aggregates, recycling, oil, gas, pulp, paper and process industries. Metso’s products range from processing equipment and systems to industrial valves and controls. The company supports its customers world-wide through a broad scope of services and a global network of over 80 service centres. In Australia, Metso has around 500 staff that operate out of 13 facilities around the country.
From our very first meeting with Metso executives, I was impressed by their great culture which is very similar to ours. As for synergies, combining the strengths of our companies and knowledge of our people will allow us to bring even more value to our clients in the mineral processing and material transfer market sectors. This will come through; enhanced offerings, better geographic coverage, stronger financial stability, a global supply chain and additional R&D funding to further develop our suite of solutions.
This is an exciting time for all of us and we want to make sure that the transition goes smoothly especially for our valued customers and staff. We have formed a dedicated integration team comprising both WEARX and Metso people who will determine how WEARX will function within Metso, whilst retaining the agility and entrepreneurial spirit that you have come to expect from our company.
For the time being, there is no change to the way that we work together. I remain the head of WEARX, your day-to-day contacts are the same, as is the ABN of the company for transactional purposes. My team is focussed on continuing to deliver great service and will proactively communicate changes that impact our trading relationship throughout the integration period.
